FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I ORDER?
First check our prices page to estimate how much your unit will cost. Then e-mail us (feel free to ask us any questions at the same time!) and we will send you a quotation and an option to make a one-click payment through Square. Once we receive payment we start work on your system. Delivery time is typically 2-3 weeks.
HELP, I DAMAGED MY BLACKOUT PANEL!
Will you repair it?
Yes. We do repairs. You will have to pay the shipping and handling/repair costs. A simple patch will cost typically $50 for handling and repair. We also supply a free fabric patch with every order in case you want to perform any tests or install your own patch!
WHICH COUNTRIES DO YOU SHIP TO?
We ship internationally. Please note that our NFPA fire certification meets the standards of Canada, the USA, and New York City (yes, NYC is unique). If you want certification in any other country, you will have to certify it yourself. We can supply a test patch (there is shipping and handling fee though).
DO I HAVE TO ASSEMBLE MY OWN UNIT?
Yes. But we don't want any assembly nightmares. Assembly is simple - just insert the steel rods into the corner connectors using a rubber mallet. Use a cloth underneath to protect your frame from scratches while installing.
DO YOU ACCEPT RETURNS?
Since all our blackout and barrier units are customized to your desired size, we cannot accept returns except due to any defects in workmanship. If in the highly unlikely event that you spot a defect, please alert us within 2 weeks of receiving the unit and we will exchange it free of charge. All units are carefully inspected prior to shipping.
HOW MUCH LASER CAN MY LASERBLACK UNIT BLOCK?
Please see our LaserBlack brochure. There are an infinite number of possible beam characteristics (beam size, wavelength, pulse length, etc). We do in-house tests with a picosecond Ti:sapphire laser and a CW Ar ion laser. More information will be announced when laser and flame testing is completed.
WHERE ARE YOUR UNITS MANUFACTURED?
All of our products are made or assembled in Edmonton, Alberta.
HOW CAN I AFFIX MY FRAME TO MY OPTICAL TABLE?
Simple! Use Thorlabs' (or any other manufacturer's) clamping systems. In our lab we don't need the clamps because the frame is not so easy to slide. If you do want clamps, we recommend just pushing the flat end of a CL5 type clamp against the frame and locking it to the table with a typical 1/4" 20 screw (or whatever screw your table uses).
